After the party, I took Robin, Irene Cho (Rick Yune's PR assistant), and Steve from the Mountain Brothers to a friend's restaurant to eat
Pho! Pho is a Vietnamese Noodle soup that is our claim to fame. The restaurant wasn't open, but a friend of the Synergy Productions team, Eddie Nguyen,
whose family owns a fantastic Vietnamese restaurant, offered to open his restaurant at 3 am in the morning, so we could all eat! We ended up staying until 4am. I was able to talk to Steve of the Mountain Brothers
about his aspirations of finishing medical school, and about his music career with his college buddies. He's taking everything day by day, and is enjoying his success along with his group.
The next morning, Irene, Robin, Rick and his friends from school (Rick graduated from U. Penn's prestigious Wharton School of Business) went out to eat dim sum. I
discovered how much Rick and Robin can eat! Rick must have ordered everything that came by, and ate all of it! I sat back and marveled at his eating skills.
Irene and I were waiting for our favorite-- Mango pudding. When it finally arrived, Irene, Rick, Robin and I snatched them up. It was so good, that Rick ordered another
one, and wanted to take one to go! Both Rick and Robin ate a healthy amount. Rick noticed Robin's eating habits, and asked him how he stayed in such great shape. It
came to light that, Robin spends his day perfecting his already awesome physique by working out an average of 3 hours per day doing cardio, weights, and martial arts.
Robin had planned on meeting Ming-Na Wen and their mutual friends for a BBQ, and invited me to come along. So, I ended up playing cards and eating lunch with
Ming-Na and her husband Eric, for the rest of the afternoon!
Ming, as her friends affectionately call her, was just too cute playing cards! I soon
learned that she is an avid card player, and loves playing any card game. Her sweet competitiveness was fun to watch! We played a game where you tried to get as close
to 30 points with three cards. Every time you were the loser in the round, you had to bend a corner of your five dollar bill, and after five you were out of the game. I didn't say
very much during the game; I'm more of a people watcher.
I was taken aback by the fact that I was sitting with the voice of Disney's Mulan!
Ming would say the cutest things, such as squeeking at certain moments, or feigning being upset when she received a bad hand, it was amazing to hear her voice, and correlate it with Mulan's.
I'm horrible at card games, and have no luck, so I was out of the game first. Ming, the excited competitor that she was, fought it out to the bitter end, and lost to a valiant
competitor, much to her dismay. We laughed, ate great food, and chatted until about
6 p.m. The time came to go and I took Ming-Na and her husband back to her hotel so they could catch their flight back to LA.
